The most rewarding part about being a dad is the moments where you watch them grow and learn before your eyes. The first time they set the table themselves or the first time they remember to clean up after themselves before moving on to the next activity makes you feel like what you are doing is working. My daughter was playing with her cousins who were fighting over a toy and she helped facilitate shared use of that toy, both of her cousins are 6 and 5, while she was 3 at the time.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
The big why I do what I do for my daughter is because I love her to the ends of the earth and would do anything for her. The more grounded answer is I believe that every child deserves to have parents that are always there and always make time to play and answer questions and enrich a child’s mind. They are at such an important age when they are this young and I want her to look back on her childhood with fondness and say I did the best I could in setting her up for her future.
How would you use the $25,000?
I started wood working when I was in college and I believe it is a wonderful outlet for children and their dads/moms to create something wonderful and learn valuable skills. That’s why I would use half the money to donate to children’s programs in Hartford CT specifically aimed at children establishing relationships with parents or adults in the area as a parental figure to learn from. The other half I would use on starting a basement renovation with my wife and daughter helping me.
