I love watching my kids grow and develop as humans. It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute to that growth. It’s amazing to watch my kids utilizing skills that I have taught them and work on projects together. My 11 year old is getting into 4-H and he has been helping build the houses and fence in areas for his various livestock and poultry projects. He’s getting to the point where sometimes he just takes over and I’m just supervising him while he works on these projects.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I want to show my kids that they can do almost anything they put their minds to. We have shown them how being able to DYI and figure out ways to fix things within our budget. With a larger family we’re often on a tight budget. My wife and I are both teachers and know the difference that attentive parents can make in a child’s life. I’d choose being there for my kids over anything. I love our four boys and they are the reason I am always striving to be a better dad.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would use it to help my family move to be closer to extended family. It would also to help make the new house usable for all our needs: build a chicken coop, shelter for the kids 4-H projects (sheep, ducks, rabbits, chickens), possibly materials for a greenhouse. It’s likely we would purchase fixer upper and this money would help make our dreams come true on our tight budget.
