The most rewarding part of being a dad is the way my son looks at me and smiles. In that little moment, nothing else in the world matters. Knowing that I’m his safe place, his example, and someone he looks up to is a feeling I could never put a price on. That smile makes every sacrifice, every long day, and every challenge worth it.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My dad left early in my life, so I never had the father-son bond I watched my friends have. I remember wanting that more than anything. That feeling has never left me, and now it fuels the kind of dad I strive to be. I want my son to go through life knowing, without a doubt, that his dad is always there, through every win, loss, milestone, and ordinary day. I can’t change what I missed, but I can make sure he never has to wonder if his dad will be there.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use the $25K to create memories with my son, Jordan. He loves to swim, so I’d build a small pool where we could spend our Indiana summer nights together. I’d also extend our driveway to add a basketball court. Growing up, I always dreamed of shooting hoops outside at night with my dad. I never got to have those moments, but now I dream about having them with my son. To me, that’s what this money would really buy not things, but memories Jordan and I could carry with us forever.
