Watching her use and learn from something I made for her. Most recently was a busy-board made from a 5$ cabinet door from Ace Hardware. Snaps, chains, latches, knobs. All things for her to learn and feel. Watched a few videos, pulled out the drill, got it done. She ignores half the items on the board and goes for the noisy ones. It doesn’t matter. She’s learning, and I made it for her. Nobody warns you how good that feels.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Nobody handed me a blueprint or instruction manual. Everything I know, I taught myself. Self-learned Linux at the kitchen table. A mobile dog gym business out of the truck. Read it, watch it, get it wrong, do it again. That’s the workflow. That’s the thing I have to give her. Not money, not the perfect house. Just proof you can walk into something you don’t understand and come out the other side knowing it. If she grows up believing that. I did my job 🫡
How would you use the $25,000?
Three things and none of them are a vacation. Her future first - An account with her name on it that’s strictly hers. Then, tools and a real workspace. With the proper tools and space to get it done, we can spread knowledge and wisdom to all the kids in our community and beyond! The rest goes to working on giving her the perfect home to grow up in. Most of it goes back through Ace 😎
