Being such an important figure in my kids’ lives has been so rewarding. Whenever they are excited, hurt, hungry, scared, or energetic, they run to me! I love being that person for them. I’ve also loved seeing them grow and flourish as they continue to get older. My kids are incredible - they are curious about the world and always learning something new. Every day I’m home, I get to spend quality time with them and deepen our relationship. Parks, reading, sports, backyard hangs - it’s all great!
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Being a dad is a beautiful, challenging, rewarding, and important opportunity to love and shape my kids for their future. I want them to have the best childhood they can and to always feel supported and safe. For myself, I want to be able to look back on my years of being a dad and feel as though I got it right. My kids are my world and since I’m around them more than any other adult (other than my wife/their mom), I want to be the best influence on them as I can be so that they can love others.
How would you use the $25,000?
My family has been trying to move out of Chicago to be closer to grandparents/my siblings for the past 3 years, but we’ve been struggling because of this crazy house market. The $25k would hopefully allow us to finally find a house worthy of raising our kids, in a safe area close to extended family. My kids often ask when we will live closer to their grandparents - this money will help that dream to happen even sooner and would be the start to creating lasting and loving memories in the suburbs.
