One of the most rewarding things about being a dad is when you see they get “it” one day. Those moments come few and far between on most days, but every now and then they make you proud, or you get a note from a teacher or a random compliment in a grocery store, or something as simple as “Man, your son has a really firm handshake!” Then, there are those random, while no one else is around, when they give you a. quiet, “Thanks Dad.” Those are the moments I live for.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
It is our responsibility as fathers to present a better version of yourself to the world. The most shining example of that version is your children. God willing my life will shine through them. If we are not creating good intentionally, then we are creating bad unintentionally. It is up to every individual to make this world a better place. I am certain that my dad was the best dad he could be, so I own it to my children to be the same. That doesn’t mean I’m perfect, but I’m trying daily.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would likely use the money to start my nonprofit to help more kids. It’s a vision I’ve had for some time, but life tends to get in the way. I want to provide more kids the opportunities that I had via the support structure I had in my village. My village consisted of family and church family. All of this would be perfect timing considering I just lost my dad a little over a month ago. He taught me a lot and I want to teach a lot to others.
