The most rewarding thing about being a dad is watching my kids become their own person and knowing I’ve given them the wisdom, principles, discipline, & character to navigate life on their own. It’s seeing them make good decisions when I’m not there because something I taught them stuck. Someday they’ll build their own families & pass those lessons on. To me, that’s legacy, not what I leave behind, but what continues through them.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be a better dad by never assuming I know it all. Even after raising 3 kids, I enrolled in a fatherhood program after having my 4th 5 months ago at the age of 50! I realized there was still more for me to learn. It has taught me how to be more intentional in how I show up, not only as a father, but as a husband. I believe becoming a better dad starts with being willing to learn, grow, and hold myself accountable.
How would you use the $25,000?
If I won $25k, I’d use it to build, not blow it. I’d pay down some debt, invest in my kids’ futures, & invest in myself so I can continue building something that provides for my family. A $25k prize can disappear pretty quickly, but if I use it wisely, it can keep giving back to my family for years to come.
