I always hear the phrase 'It's a thankless job" and to some degree it is... But when they show their appreciation and acknowledge how happy they are or how much they enjoy spending time with me or playing games with me... That's what it's all about. I grew up with 6 siblings, my parents worked all the time. My dad didn't want to play games with us because he was usually too tired and didn't want to deal with the inevitable fight that would occur when 3 boys played anything together.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Family has always been important to me. I'm lucky enough to still have my Dad to call when I need advice. He is the best dad (and Pop Pop). We live 750 miles away from our family, so visits are far and few between. We do video calls every so often, but I'm trying to teach these kids the family values I grew up with. I love seeing them do what they love. My kids are in so many activities! Karate twice a week, Dance School, Soccer twice a week and American Ninja Warrior training!
How would you use the $25,000?
There are plenty of projects around the house we could get done with the $25k (add the half bath we've been wanting downstairs / refinish our walk in closet / add a pergola to cover our patio to make it more usable / replace the padding and carpet in the hallway upstairs that the cats keep peeing on). Ultimately, we would use some of it for a few of those projects, but we'd probably use a good chunk of it to go on a trip and visit family.
