Coming home after work through the years to see their excitement is the best part of my day. Whether we are in the yard catching touchdown passes, shooting hoops like it's game seven of the NBA Finals, or building derby cars straight from their imagination, being with them puts everything into perspective. From marathoning all eight Spider-Man movies to debating who was the best one, doing anything with them instantly washes away daily stressors and reminds me what truly matters.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
First and foremost, since I helped bring them into this crazy world, looking out for them is my ultimate responsibility. I want to be there through all their ups and downs so they always know at least one person completely believes in them. Every day, I strive to lead by example—in how I treat their mother, how I treat them, and how I treat others. I want to model what hard work looks like so they have the foundation to go out and achieve their own goals in life.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d invest it in my family, just like the rest of my income. My oldest drives a thousand-dollar truck, and my youngest is about to get his license, so I’d use it for down payments on safe, reliable vehicles. The rest would fund a vacation to celebrate a milestone trifecta: my oldest son's graduation, my youngest son's golden birthday, and my wife's third graduation, which will further her career as a school psychologist. Family is everything to me.
