The most rewarding part of being a dad is seeing my kids integrate my life teachings into their lives. I approach raising my kids from an overall awareness perspective. That perspective includes well-rounded guidance, not only on how our family dynamic is supposed to work, but also guiding them through the mental gauntlet of navigating the social aspects of school (especially middle school) so that my kids don't feel isolated. My reward is seeing them grow and incorporate everything.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My motivation comes from what I wanted my childhood to be, and the relationship I wanted with my dad. My dad was taken away by the crack epidemic, so I had to navigate life with no male father figure as a young boy growing up on the South Side of Chicago in a gang-infested neighborhood. I had to dim my light to feel comfortable as a child, so I strive to make my kids feel as though they can shine their light to their fullest potential. My goal is to be the best dad from my kids perspective only.
How would you use the $25,000?
Well, the responsible side of me says I would use this money toward my daughter's college. However, memories are priceless. I would love to take my family to Greece on a family vacation. We work hard so that we can have fun and create memories. The memories created in my kids lives by having their dad on television and then going on a dream trip contribute to being the best dad because balance while building character is what life is all about.
