The most rewarding thing of being a dad is seeing my kids grow into being their own, unique person. My wife spends a lot of her time as a home educator for both of our kids. It amazes me the kinds of questions and insights a 3 and 5 year old can reveal in the smallest, passing interactions. Getting to reignite your own sense of wonderment alongside theirs is a beautiful thing and it never gets old having small adventures.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My father and grandfather were and are lifetime working class men. In their own lifetimes they created new opportunities for growth for the generation after them that have compounded to the opportunities I have now. I want to continue that legacy into my kids life so they can do the same and more for their kids. I consider every sacrifice and spent moment of fatherhood to be a compounded investment into every generation that will come after me. Seeing their success makes any sacrifice worth it.
How would you use the $25,000?
As many things awarded to fathers, that money will be reinvested right back into my family. I do most of my own home renovations, often with the help of my local Ace Hardware store up the street. It will also help secure my kids future by being used for their education and extracurriculars. Im sure a portion will also go towards the here-and-there home improvement my wife has on my “honey do” list.
