Being able to show my kids how a real dad should be. Was raised with just a mom because my dad took off when I was 9. Most rewarding part is seeing my kids go through trials and how they figure it out but with support from me (and mom of course but this is about me right now sooo!!) can’t feel joy unless you know what pain feels like. Then I get to see the kids reach out to others to help when they have trials. Reciprocating what was shown to them. Love it!
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
As mentioned in the previous question, my dad abused me and my mother physically, and my older brother emotionally. I saw what happened to them and I had to overcome so much to break that chain. I pushed to never do what he did to me. I’m not the best dad but I was able to maintain a marriage from 24 years now and raise 4 wonderful kids. One college graduate, one still in college, high schooler and a junior high kid. I strive to be the best so the kids never have to feel that type of pain.
How would you use the $25,000?
My older brother is mentally ill now after our childhood trauma and lives in his car now. I would help him out of that situation and get him medical help. I would not just give him money to enable him. I would also use it to get my last two kids through college. Lastly, I would take my wife in that trip to Italy she always wanted to do. Being a special education teacher, money is not rolling. I would take the rest and invest so the kids would be left with some dividends. Money is just an idea.
