Every day, when I come home from a long 12 hour shift, one or both of my kids hear the door close and I hear "DAD?!", their little feet pattering to the stairs and then they start telling me about whatever it is they found interesting about their day so far. That is truly a special and rewarding feeling, to be loved that much. I also get to teach them various things, my son loves to build (so do I), and my daughter LOVES to be a little helper. I love helping people too. They are my reward.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
There are so many facets of life. The world is fast paced. But luckily, I am a jack of all trades... and a master of none. I am decent at carpentry and some sports. For the past few years, since 2023, my family suffered as I was a fulltime student and worked fulltime while living in low-income housing. My son suffered lead poisoning during that time, and needs lots of extra support. He needs me at my best, my family deserves a dad who shows up and does his best.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would get several parts of my "Honey - To Do" list done. To include, a trip to Disney World, which is a dream trip we have had for years. I would get my daughters room remodeled (by me), we need new floors in 2 rooms, cabinets in our utility room, an adequate fence for our 3 full-size dogs, some landscaping, sprinklers, windows, siding, a deck... So many things to do. There is only one of me. I will get it all done in due time. My family deserves it, I want it to support their dreams.
