Seeing all the hard work you’ve put into yourself reflected in your child’s behavior. It’s crazy, right? They watch everything, and a fumble or flaw you might miss can show up in how they act. With a quick pivot and attention to detail, that can become an easy fix that helps the whole family’s relationships. I didn’t read parenting books, instead I took advice from friends who have upstanding kids. It's a reward it is to see your child thrive and be capable of sitting at the adult table.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because this is the future generation. I think about how I grew up and the short falls my own parents had. I couldn't be more grateful to them in an odd and understanding way. We live in an age where there is so much information thrown at you, some right and loads of the advice is all wrong. Its my responsibility to teach problem solving remedies to her so she will succeed in this world and never feel she's a victim of it. Having a great wife has made this whole thing fun and easy.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d keep saving for her based on the trajectory of her passions. I’d also pay it forward and I want other parents to do something meaningful for their kids too. Those deeds pay dividends in helping her grow into a "good human". In California, dual income is basically mandatory. I work construction and run side jobs to take care of my family’s needs. This $25K would get us closer to moving and afford more time with them possibly in another state. I’d also put some toward a trip to Disneyland tbh
