I have traveled the world and lived many places, but spending time with my son has been life changing. Whether we're on a father-son RV road trip through Central California, building our chicken coop or telling silly meme jokes, watching him grow into a young man is remarkable. Choosing to be present in my son's life takes intentional planning and real work. I never adopted Michael for rewards or accolades, but I could have never imagined how much I would receive by being his dad.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
When I am the best dad, I see it in my son. I see the joy, I see the greatness that he can be, Michael had a challenging first 5 years so I approach each day as a chance to change the course of his life; stepping up and being present helps him to understand anything is possible. From the moment we met, he was always watching and studying me. He wasn't just listening to what I said—he was watching how I lived. I want him to know he is loved, believe in himself, and make the world better.
How would you use the $25,000?
Winning $25,000 would be incredible- since this would never happen without Michael, I would take the opportunity to teach him about money and reward. First off we would gift half to the adoption agency that brought our lives together. Michael is taking a class about money in middle school, so I would help him learn in the real time about investing and long-term savings. For the cherry, he has been wanting me to buy a tenor sax for 2 years; he wants us to play together in a band.
