Watching your child grow into their own person and seeing all the progress along the way. Seeing what parts of you they possess and how they differ. Doing whatever it takes to make them smile and be happy. To have great memories as they grow old and look back and smile at their past. Giving them things they need and want.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Growing up in the 90’s and early 2000’s I did a lot of dumb stuff. Pretty much didn’t have any rules being the youngest of 4. I know what is out there and how to protect from things. But also want him to learn himself. I want him to think for himself and experience failures and achievements on his own. I think it’s best not to be so over shadowing that our children become dependent on us and not be able to be self sufficient. I’m supportive and protective while allowing him to grow.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d take 5000 and take to Disney as that’s out of my price range without any help. The other 20k would go into a custodial Roth or a 529 plan. Either way he will be taken care of in the future as I wasn’t provided with such luxuries. Make his future just a little easier to navigate without having to worry about money as much.
