For me the most rewarding part of being a dad is watching my three kids grow into their own personalities and knowing I get to help shape who they become. Two of my kids came into my life through marriage, which taught me that being a dad has nothing to do with DNA and everything to do with showing up, loving them, and being there when they need me. Watching all three grow into great people makes it all worth it.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because my dad was the best dad I could’ve asked for. He worked nights, two jobs, sometimes 7 days a week, but never missed a game and always made time to take us hunting or fishing. I want to follow in his footsteps, make him a proud Papa, and give my kids what he gave me. I’ve never missed one of my stepson’s games, and the look on my little girl’s face when she sees me reminds me I’m doing something right.
How would you use the $25,000?
My wife’s career is incredibly important to our family, so I’ve chosen work that gives me the flexibility to be there when our kids need me. I’d use the $25,000 to give my real estate career the boost it needs to become my full-time career, while still being the dad who handles school pickups, practices, games and everything in between. Being able to take some of the financial burden off my wife while still being present for my kids would mean more to me than anything I could buy.
