Getting to rewrite the generational damage that was poured into us as kids with kindness, and discipline based on Love. I am still amazed by them everyday, and I can still see them taking their first steps, hitting their first t ball, giving their first real apology, getting their heart broken, first broken bone, they’re going to be in fourth grade and I’ve been there for all of it. The good and bad, it has been the greatest blessing and joy of my life to watch their journey unfold.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
A wise man once said to me that we will never know the good that we will do. I think of parenting like gardening….what we plant in joy, we harvest in joy. My hope is that the seeds that I’ve planted in my sons will someday bloom into a confident, happy, strong garden that may someday bring that selfsame joy to others. I want my sons to grow up knowing that I will love them all day, every day, no matter what: no conditions, no stipulations. They always have their dad.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would love to finally start some projects that I’ve talked about with the boys for years, like building a fort, fixing up my father in laws sheds out behind his house, help my stepmom with some furniture for her new apartment, and if there is anything left over I’d like to get a couple new tools for myself. Thank you for all you do for dads out there. The real victory is getting more support for fathers and men. Bless you all!!!!!
