Watching my kids learn the things my dad taught me. He showed me that love looks like showing up — fixing what's broken, building what's needed, being there without being asked. When I see my kids pick that up just by watching me, the way I picked it up watching him, that's three generations in one moment. Nothing beats it.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because I know exactly what a great dad looks like — I had one for my whole life. He taught me that being a dad isn't about words, it's about sacrifice, consistency, and love. My kids deserve the same rock I had. Every day I try to be for them what he was for me. That's how his legacy lives on.
How would you use the $25,000?
I'd finish our basement — the family hangout my dad was helping me build. He grew up doing landscape and irrigation and could build or fix just about anything. When I was a kid, he turned our basement from bare concrete and studs into a home, gutted and rebuilt bathrooms, and more. Now I'm doing the same for my kids — framing, drywall, a salon area for my wife — but since losing him, it sits unfinished. Completing it would finish what we started, together.
