The most rewarding part is being the person my children run to when they need comfort, protection, or simply someone to play with. After eight years in the Marine Corps, becoming a stay-at-home dad taught me a new kind of strength. Watching May and Taylor grow, hearing their laughter, and knowing I get to help shape the people they become is the greatest honor of my life. Also watching them do something they learned from me, that’s the best feeling ever.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can because my children deserve a father who is patient, and dependable. I want them to grow up knowing they never had to earn my love or wonder whether I would be there. More than anything, I hope the way I love, protect, guide, and believe in them becomes the steady foundation they carry with them long after they are grown. I grew up knowing I wanted to be 3 things; a dad, a husband, and a marine. I want to earn the titles God blessed me with, and I think I have.
How would you use the $25,000?
It would give our family something we have worked hard to build but rarely get to feel: breathing room. After suddenly medically retiring from the Marine Corps, I became a stay-at-home dad while earning my IT degree and helping my wife with her dream she is living out of owning a coffee shop. I would reduce our debt, build an emergency fund, support my education, and create greater stability for our kids as we build our family’s future. It would put our legs back under us, and set us up better.
