Seeing pieces of what was poured into me come alive in my boys. My grandma and mom taught me how to cook, and now my 6- and 10-year-old want to be right beside me in the kitchen learning from Dad. Knowing that I’m passing down more than recipes—that we’re creating memories and traditions they may someday share with their own children—is something no accomplishment could ever replace.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because I’m raising two boys who will one day become men, and I want them to become better men than I am. I want them to see that strength includes kindness, that hard work matters, that you help people when you can, and that you keep going when life gets difficult. When I see them being polite or helping someone without being asked, I get a glimpse of the men they’re becoming—and that’s why I keep trying to be better too.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use it to create both security and memories for my family. A portion would go toward my boys’ futures, a portion toward strengthening our family’s financial foundation, and I’d save some for an experience we could share together. Money comes and goes, but giving my boys a stronger start while also creating memories they’ll carry into adulthood would make this prize mean far more than $25,000.
