The most rewarding part is watching your kids become their own people. You get to see them go from the littlest versions of themselves to having their own ideas, opinions, and feelings. Along the way, you get to experience the world through their eyes again, everything new, everything with a child's sense of wonder. It's joyful, terrifying, and awe-inspiring, all at once.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I don't have a great relationship with my dad, and neither does my wife. Being of a certain generation, there were things our dads never did, or never knew how to do. Everything I do as a dad is a redemption tour, an effort to build the family and the experience I never had. Taking my boys to school, putting them to bed, coaching their sports teams, taking them on trips. Every chance I get is a gift, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be their dad.
How would you use the $25,000?
Being a dad is about helping create a better future for your kids. We'd invest the $25k into college, education, and opportunities for our boys, so they can have the best future possible. Our job isn't to give them the most fun, it's to create the best opportunities for them to become the best versions of themselves.
