The most rewarding part is seeing the world through their eyes at every stage. Hearing “Daddy!” after a long day and getting tackled with a hug. Watching them copy everything I do. Passing down what my dad taught me from wrenching on motors to fixing things around the house. Taking off the training wheels, building that first bike ramp and watching them fly. Their fearlessness, love and light remind me how simple life can be and make me want to hold onto that kid in myself.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Family first has never been a choice it’s who I am. Growing up as one of six kids taught me the strength of a close family. I was lucky to have amazing parents and some great father figures who helped shape who I am. I carry those lessons into raising my three boys, giving them the best of me and opportunities I could only dream of. I believe each generation should build on the last. I was given a strong foundation; now it’s my job to build theirs.
How would you use the $25,000?
We just found out our house needs all new plumbing and sewer lines, so I’d tackle that first. Then I’d transform our backyard into a safe, fun space for our three boys. A new fence, tree forts, zip lines, campfires, and plenty of room for adventure. If there’s enough left, I’d finish restoring Grandpa’s old jet boat and get it back on the water. My dad gave me some badass memories on that boat, and I’d love for my boys to make some of their own.
