The most rewarding part about being a dad is in the little moments, such as when I’m helping my daughter go to sleep. She turns to me gives me a big hug and says she loves me. It’s truly in those moments that you see compassion, empathy, and a soft heart who recognizes the parent you are becoming for them. As kids grow up, they will have good days and bad days, however ultimately, when they can recognize that you are giving them your best efforts and everything, it’s rewarding that they see it.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I always do my best to continually provide positive encouragement, and meaningful lessons. I work hard so my daughter can experience a full life. That means kayaking, fishing, motorcycle rides, camping, coffee runs, bubbles, gardening, going to parks, going out for milkshakes, working on the vehicles with dad, going snowmobiling, I give her the experiences to become a well rounded individual and encourage her to find joy in those moments so she can have good direction for her life as she matures
How would you use the $25,000?
The $25,000 would be an honour to win. My daughter would get every cent of that. I would focus on splitting it into different avenues for her. She would have a well established savings RESP for post secondary education, a healthy retirement savings, first time home buyer savings, and some savings for experiences as she grows up (such as class trips, retreats etc). I want to be able to set her up financially because in this current economy, ensuring she has financial means is everything to me.
