Watching my kids grow, smile and overcome challenges is everything. My 4-year-old son calls me his best friend, and I don’t think he realizes how much that means to me. Fatherhood gives me a purpose bigger than myself. The most rewarding part is knowing that when life gets tough, I get to be there—to listen, teach, share what I’ve learned and help them find their way. Then I get to watch them grow stronger because of it.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I wanted to be a father long before I had children. Growing up without the relationship I wanted with my own parents made me determined to become the kind of dad and role model I needed as a kid. Now that I’m a father, that promise means even more. My children didn’t choose to be here—I helped bring them here. I owe them more than the childhood I never had. I want to give them love, trust, guidance and the confidence to build lives even greater than anything I could imagine for them.
How would you use the $25,000?
$25K would create opportunities for my family we’ve worked on and never had. I’d put it toward finally buying our first home, invest in growing my contracting business and build investments for my children’s futures. I’d also take our first real family vacation and give back to the community that helped shape me. And I’d have to fire up the grill and throw one HUGE cookout to celebrate! More than anything, I’d use it to create stability, memories and opportunities that last far beyond the prize.
