Walking in the door and leaving the “workday” stress outside. Seeing my wife and son smiling at the top of the stairs, welcoming me home, is the greatest feeling ever. Since being diagnosed, I’ve had many days where I’m exhausted, but whatever energy I have left is given to my family, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Being present and in the moment with them is what matters most to me.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best Dad because that’s what my son deserves. He has an incredible mom, and I want to make sure I’m that same kind of example for him. I want to create a legacy for my son and teach him to love working with his hands, learning, and building things. Most importantly, I want him to always feel loved and know that I was present. At the end of my life, I want to look back with zero regrets. Family is everything, and becoming a Dad has been the greatest experience of my life.
How would you use the $25,000?
The $25,000 would give our family a chance to breathe. Over the last year, medical bills drained a large portion of our savings. We’d finally be able to rebuild some of that, set money aside as we hope to grow our family, and relieve some of the financial pressure that comes with running a small business. I work hard to provide for my family and try not to bring that stress home with me. This award would give us some financial security, allow us to focus on our future, and honestly take a huge w
