Watching her discover something for the first time: a sound, a face, her own hands, and the best part is I have a front row seat for it! She’s the person who looks for me when she’s scared and reaches for me when she’s happy, and there’s no feeling like that. Some days I’m running on no sleep and barely functioning, but the second she smiles at me, all of that disappears. Being her dad is the best thing I’ve ever done, hands down. Oh and I can’t forget that her first word/sound is Dada
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I lost my own father not long before I became one, and it changed how I see fatherhood completely. I know firsthand that time isn’t something you get to bank, you either show up for it or you don’t. My dad gave me a foundation I still lean on, and I want to build that for her: a childhood where she never has to wonder if she’s loved, because I show her every day. Being present isn’t something I do when it’s convenient. It’s the standard I hold myself to, every day, no exceptions.
How would you use the $25,000?
My dad never got to visit Hawaii - it was always ‘someday.’ I’d use part of this to finally take that trip in his memory, and bring my daughter and wife along. The rest I’d put toward Gigi’s future education expenses (she told me she wants to be an astronaut!! Lol) . It feels right to honor where I came from and invest in where my baby is heading, all at once
