My son is truly the light of my life. Before he ever took his first breath, while he was still in his mother’s womb, I made a commitment that I would be present. Not just being present when it was convenient, but physically, emotionally, and spiritually present in his everyday life. From changing diapers and preparing meals to feeding him, clothing him, teaching him, and caring for him when he needs me, I embrace every part of being his dad. He sleeps on me, follows me around whenever I go.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I want my son to grow up never having to wonder whether his father loves him, believes in him, or will show up for him. I want him to have memories of a father who was there—not simply for the big moments, but for the ordinary ones that ultimately become the most important. My goal is bigger than simply being a good dad. I want to establish a legacy of great fatherhood that starts with me. I may not have had the example I desired, but I can become the example my son deserves.
