The most rewarding part of being a dad is watching my children experience life together—especially seeing my youngest son, who uses a wheelchair, included in adventures that are not always designed with him in mind. Every obstacle he overcomes feels like a family victory. I also love watching his sisters encourage him, protect him, and celebrate him. Knowing that all three of my children feel loved, capable, and equally important is the greatest reward I could ever receive.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Being a special-needs dad has taught me that fatherhood is more than providing—it is advocating, adapting, and refusing to let the world place limits on your child. I strive to be my best because my children are watching how I respond when life is difficult or unfair. I want my son to know that his wheelchair never determines his worth or what is possible for his life, and I want all three of my children to grow up with faith, resilience, compassion, and the courage to make room for others.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would use the $25,000 to build our son Jameson a true backyard oasis he can access fully in his wheelchair. Picture smooth concrete pathways winding through the yard, an adaptive swing he can roll right onto, and a wheelchair-accessible play structure. I’d also love a quality all-terrain wagon so we can get him to the beach and other outdoor spots we all love; while saving dad’s back. It’s about a life with no barriers, just joy for our whole family together.
