Watching my kids grow into great people has always been the most rewarding part of being a dad. I love remembering all the little moments along the way—from them running up to me for a hug when they were little to getting calls from my older kids when they need advice or help. One of the things that means the most to me is realizing that even though my daughters are 26 and 27, they still need Dad. No matter how old my kids get, I will always be there for them.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My dad set the bar high for being a great father, and I want to live up to that example. Life brings setbacks and hard times, including serious health challenges, but what matters is what you do today and tomorrow. I want my kids to know that life can knock you down, but you don't stay down. You keep moving forward, keep showing up, and keep being Dad. Despite my health challenges, I'm going back to college to build a future for my family.
How would you use the $25,000?
My health issues have limited my income, so $25,000 would mean a lot to my family. All five of my kids loved the memories we made on my pontoon, which I lost when my health changed. I'd give some to each of my kids because they made me the dad, I am today and use the rest to buy another pontoon and create new memories together.
