Memories I think, but everything is rewarding as a father. Even the challenges as hard as they can be to see sometimes, as we are getting to learn and live vicariously through them. Another rewarding part is when my kids tell me they love me out of the blue, or appreciate what I do or have done for them. Or when we see them holding doors for people or helping others in one way or another. I could go on and on really.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
As a father I show my kids it can be done, to teach work ethic, to teach resilience and strength, and to pass on what I was so graciously given from my parents. From cooking, building our deck, redoing the floors, building a theater and business startup, to replacing the brakes and rotors on our vehicles, they come along and we learn and grow together. I also do this to build confidence, it takes failure to grow and this I think will help them to go out and do, and be able to lead others too.
How would you use the $25,000?
My wife's been holding down the fort while I start this new business, so I want to give her a break financially and emotionally. I'd use the rest to help the business grow with my family and community. Our slogan is "memories made" because after almost losing my life twice to cancer, I learned to value time with family and creating memories above all else, and that's been a huge part of my life ever since.
