The most rewarding part of being a dad is knowing I get to help shape who my kids become. I love the fun stuff—gaming, drawing, joking around—but I also want to prepare them for real life. I want to be their shelter, not their cage: someone who listens, protects, teaches, and gives them the freedom to grow into responsible, balanced adults.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can be because I didn’t have the best examples growing up. My father left when I was a baby, and my dad was abusive. I want to break that cycle. I want my kids to remember me as patient, kind and approachable, and to always know they can come to me without fear. More than anything, I want them to have fond memories of their dad.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use the $25,000 to invest in my kids’ future, but not only in the traditional sense. I don’t believe college is the only path to success anymore. I’d set some aside for them, but I’d also use part of it to create memories we’ll always have together, probably through a family trip or experience. Money can help build a future, but it can also help make the moments that make a family.
