The most rewarding part is getting to witness my children become the people the world needs. The people who do good. While in my coma, my family learned I might spend the remainder of my life in a nursing home. While unconscious, I dreamed of a little boy—even though I already had three daughters and had undergone a vasectomy. I fought my way back, and today that little boy is real. Being here to raise him, my daughters, and make memories with my wife is a gift I will never take for granted.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can be because my children almost had to grow up without me. Surviving this changed what fatherhood means to me. Every “ordinary” moment like laughter, hugs, ball games, and bedtime is time I almost lost forever. My children watched me fight my way back, and now I want them to see a father who chooses quality time, perseverance, love, and family every day. I was given another chance at life, and I want to spend it giving them my very best. Not trying to be sappy 😉
How would you use the $25,000?
I would use the $25,000 to help pay the medical debt from my hospitalization and recovery, which would give me some fun “Dad” money! That medical team saved my life, and I’m SO grateful, but it also left a HUGE financial burden. Paying it down would let us focus on raising our four children instead of continually re-living the worst chapter of our lives through medical bills. This would do more than reduce debt,it would give my wife and children breathing room, security, and a true fresh start.
