Nothing makes me more proud than seeing my kids hold the door for a stranger, comfort a friend when they are upset, respect others and use their manners, and help someone in need without being asked. Watching them navigate relationships with compassion reminds me that the values I’ve planted as seeds have taken root. Their character, not their achievements, is my greatest reward.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can be because I know this world is bigger than me. My greatest purpose isn’t what I accomplish for myself, but the legacy I leave behind, through my children, by the way they love others, bring hope to those who are hurting, and choose peace over conflict. If I’ve helped raise kind, compassionate people who make the world a better place, then I’ve succeeded as a father.
How would you use the $25,000?
What I would do with $25,000 reflects the same values I teach my children: save, give, and spend wisely. I would save a portion for each of their college funds, give to their PTAs to help improve their schools and support other students, and spend some on a family trip that gives us time together and the chance to share an adventure. They have been wanting to visit Costa Rica to see some of our friends, so it would be a great opportunity to make memories while exploring a new place as a family.
