Honestly, it’s just watching my kids grow up and knowing I get to be there for all of it. Watching them figure out who they are, seeing their personalities develop, celebrating their wins and being the person they come to when things aren’t going right. I don’t always get everything right, but I show up. Every day. Knowing my kids feel safe with me, know they can talk to me and never have to question how much their dad loves them is probably the most rewarding thing in the world.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because my kids deserve the best version of me. I know I’m not going to get everything right, but I want them to grow up knowing their dad showed up, kept trying and always put them first. One day they’re going to look back on their childhood, and I want them to remember that Dad was there. For the big things, the little things and especially the hard things. If I can give them a life where they always feel loved, supported and safe with me, then I did my job.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use it to give my kids a little more of the life I work so hard to provide for them. I’m a single dad working six days a week, so $25,000 would mean breathing room, more experiences together, money toward their future and the ability to say “yes” a little more often. Yes to the trip, the sport they want to play, the thing they want to try. Mostly, it would buy me something I can’t put a price on: more time to just be Dad.
