The most rewarding part of being a dad is watching my children take the lessons I’ve taught them and use them in their own lives. I’m incredibly proud of the empathetic, compassionate people they’ve become. I’m both a father and step-grandfather, and when they call me Father, I see it as love, endearment, and respect. We also share a great sense of humor. People think we hate each other when they hear us talk, but we’re laughing because we know exactly how absurd we’re being. With straight faces
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I’ve always believed a father’s job is to raise good human beings, not assholes or jerks. I want my children to be intelligent, compassionate, and capable of thinking for themselves. Being adopted, I’ve always understood the importance of becoming the person I needed growing up. I want my children, and any child I meet, to know there are decent people in this world. If I can show them that through my actions, maybe they’ll carry that lesson with them and pass it on.
How would you use the $25,000?
I know it sounds basic, but my children have always dreamed of going to Disney World, so I’d use part of the money to give them that experience and create memories we’ll have forever. I’d use the rest for much-needed home repairs. Foundation repair. Most importantly, to get my wife something special. She has always put our family first and deserves to have something wonderful done just for her. To me, that $25,000 would be about family, memories, and giving back to the people I love.
