Being there for my son Laker and experiencing life through his eyes is the most rewarding part of being a dad. At 2 1/2, everything is an adventure. We make pancakes at the park, visit the library, read books, take walks, and try something new every day. I also love building things with him and teaching him about tools. He may only be my little helper now, but one day we’ll build things side by side. Knowing I’m creating memories with him that I’ll cherish forever means everything to me.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I see so much of myself in my son, and I know how important a strong male role model can be. Growing up, my dad was my role model. He taught me to work hard, be handy, and build a life I’m proud of. I hope one day my son looks back and thinks, “I want to be like my dad,” just like I did. My wife and I waited and hoped for many years to have a child, so being his dad is something I’ll never take for granted. He deserves the very best version of me. Which is why I make everyday about him.
How would you use the $25,000?
Building a future for my son is my number one priority. Saving money isn’t easy these days, so I’d put a portion of the $25,000 toward his college fund and give him a head start on his future. I’d also build him an awesome backyard swing set with a huge sandbox, just like I had growing up. I have so many memories of building sandcastles, playing outside, and jumping off the swings. I’d love to give him a place to make those same kinds of childhood memories with Dad right there beside him.
