Watching my daughter grow is beautiful. The pace at which she learns amazes me. Curating experiences that spark her curiosity, stretch her imagination, and build her confidence is an adventure I'm both challenged and honored to lead. Just as rewarding is the relationship we're building together: I work hard to listen closely and stay attuned to her, so she always feels safe and secure bringing her thoughts, questions, and feelings to me, today and as she grows.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
It’s my responsibility and I want her to observe me strive for excellence. I show her how to overcome fears with direct action. Father involvement also shows protective, positive effects on children's social, educational, and psychological development across childhood into adulthood, including gains in empathy, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. Plus the better I am for her it increases the chance she seeks out healthy relationships with men as an adult. This is important for her long term.
How would you use the $25,000?
I'd put it to work for both her and our community: donate to Young Innovators Academy, expanding hands-on STEM access and sparking curiosity in classmates beyond just my daughter, and to our neighborhood VFW Post to refresh the playground, giving local kids and veterans' families a more vibrant gathering space; fund a tutor stipend for her education during my evening classes; build a tree house slide; demo a wall in home to expand her room for a drum set; & deposit the rest into her 529.
