As a dad, I get to relive my life all over again through their eyes. The most rewarding thing is getting to celebrate successes and milestones- bearing witness to things they didn't think they could achieve. Both my girls have earned black belts in Taekwondo. I can't even describe how beaming I was during their belt ceremony. The best part for me was seeing them get their belts tied by their instructor. With the entire room quiet, I bust out my loudest, "THAT'S MY GIRL!" That was so satisfying.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I'm a nurse supervisor on a Bone Marrow Transplant unit. Twelve hour workdays can be brutal. As tired and run down as I am when i get home, hearing "DADDY!" and being greeted by warm hugs replenishes me. It truly makes my cup overflow. THAT'S why I do it! I love them- plain and simple. I get back at least tenfold the amount of love that I put in. I'm blessed to be a dad to my two girls. God works through them to make me a better person.
How would you use the $25,000?
In all honesty, I hadn't given it too much thought. I actually have everything I want and need. I'd say there's a 100% chance I use it for my family. I'd love to take my kids on a family vacation to Disney World. I want to pilot the Millenium Falcon at Galaxy's Edge with my kids as copilots. The rest would go towards my kids. Although they are only 11 and 13, time waits for no one. The college years will come fast. I want them to be able to go wherever they may want or need to go.
