Being called dad. At any moment I can hear her call out for dad and it flips a switch. No matter what kind of day I’m having I can always count on her being there waiting for me. Even as a teenager she still loves to greet me at home. She will still nap in my arms. When hard times come, I’m the first she turns to. I’m wanted and needed in a way only a father can understand. Sometimes I walk past her room singing and she will peek her head and and say “hey bro do you got autism?” I raised a dream
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Every choice I make is seen and heard by my daughter; especially when I don’t think so. I am forced to level up as a man and be the example of qualities she should expect from anyone. You learn to be soft, and how to control the levels of hard so you don’t break them. You need to be the superhero, but also vulnerable. Only in my daughter’s arms have even I felt comfort and safety. I need her as much as she needs me. She will remember more moments and interactions with me than I’ll ever know.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’ve always wanted a dream backyard since that’s our happy place. My first project would be making that happen, especially the hot tub to soak away my woes from the day. Of course, I could always put it away for when my daughter begins driving and needing a car. We can haul twice as much stuff with 2 trucks going! That will help us finish the backyard faster as well. Thankfully her college is covered since I am a veteran, but some of that money would go a long way to help her out in school.
