The most rewarding part of being a dad is that moment after they accomplish something—scoring a touchdown, tying their shoes, or finally being strong enough to help carry in groceries—when they immediately look for me, smiling like they’re unstoppable. When they say, “Thank you for helping me” or “You taught me,” they don’t realize I’m getting just as much from those moments as they are. Someday, when they’re holding their own newborn, I think they’ll finally understand the feeling
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I don’t strive to be the best dad because it feels like a responsibility—I do it because of what my kids have unknowingly healed in me. Their love, trust, and presence has given me more than I could ever repay. Being there for them feels effortless. I strive to make sure they know how incredible they are, how proud I am, and that they can do anything—not because Dad is there, but because they’re strong enough on their own. Giving them everything is at the very least my way of saying thank you.
How would you use the $25,000?
We will probably have to start buying our Legos online. Walmart won’t have anything left to build. Other than that i will be able to buy all the supplies we need to do all the seven and five-year-old ideas about upgrades for the backyard. Like a slide from the deck and a swing set. But idk I will use it to make whatever wild idea or plan they have for the backyard become a reality. It will create memories, laughter, and for a moment I’ll get to be the dad they think I am
