Knowing that when my daughter is older, she will be able to recognize all of the sacrifices made for her, just like I did when I got older. I show up for whatever sport she is involved with at the time. flag football? Every practice and every game, Piano? Every practice and every recital, being the loudest dad in the room or on the field. Sometimes even being the training “dummy” for her martial arts class when they are short on instructors. Being a super dad is being there in the now and later.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
To break the chains that have been in my family since well before I was born. Show her that there are other ways to handle stress, successes and failures. To ensure she has a better life than my parents did. To ensure she has better opportunities than I grew up with. To provide her with the greatest chances of success.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would use it to finish some of my honey do list. Floating shelves, bathroom vents, installing that sliding door we’ve been talking about for over a year. Getting a head start on remodeling the kitchen like we are planning on getting done. If anything is left, put it towards her future. Putting a large chunk in her 529 college savings plan, and probably buy her another pair of shoes or two.
