Though I'll likely never be one that the history books mention, not of great wealth, fame, notoriety, I'll always be dad. And by being dad, I can have an impact on this world, even on my worst days. I can change the world, through love and the little things. It keeps me going, it makes me smile, and I do get to know that I can have an impact, even if indirectly, on not just my children but many others too through how my kids grow, interact and become part of the world around them.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I want to be an example. Though I have failed, been frustrated and felt hopeless at times, we always kept moving forward. I want my children to always know that no matter how much or how little you have, love and the little things in life can be so impactful in a world that doesn't always seem to value such things. Fatherhood, family, friendship, we can learn and lead and love. I want my kids to always remember that love and empathy were just as much a part of success as hard work.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would pay off some debt, which would allow me to get some more cattle and continue to grow our business. Eventually providing opportunities for others as well. I would say take a trip, buy something nice, but ultimately being able to tackle some debt would allow more time and less stress. We are lucky to have what we have here ultimately, it would make it a bit easier to enjoy it and move forward and have more time with the family.
