The most rewarding part is getting to be a part of who my kids are becoming. I love having them beside me while I’m fixing something, working outside, or teaching them how to do something with their own hands. I like cutting up with them and making them laugh, and seeing the pride on their faces when they figure something out. I didn’t grow up having that kind of relationship with my own dad, so getting to be that dad for my kids means more to me than they probably realize.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I know how much a good man’s example can shape a kid. I didn’t have that relationship with my biological dad, but I was blessed with other men, including my stepdad, who stepped up and showed me what it looked like. That’s a big part of why I strive to be the best dad I can be. I want my kids to know Jesus, love people, work hard, and do what’s right. I want them to have a strong foundation and know being a good father is about more than providing, it’s about how you live, love, and lead.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use it to give my family some breathing room. I work full time and pick up side jobs because that’s what it takes sometimes with a big family. I’d pay off debt and get us ahead instead of always trying to catch up. I’d also take my wife and kids on a much-needed vacation. I work a lot to provide for them, but my kids are only little once. Being able to put work aside for a little while, go somewhere together, and make memories with all six of them would mean more to me than anything I could
