The most rewarding part of being a dad is watching my kids grow into who they're meant to be. Seeing them gain confidence, find their own voice, and know they're deeply loved is everything to me. Along the way, I've also been blessed to be a father figure to students who didn't have one. Whether they're my own children or a student who just needs someone to believe in them, that's the greatest privilege of my life.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I get one chance to be their dad, and I don't want to waste it. Childhood goes by way too fast, and I want my kids to grow up knowing they always had someone cheering them on, picking them up when they fell, and reminding them they could do hard things. I also carry this into the classroom with students who never had that kind of support. If I can help a young person believe they're capable, loved, and never alone, then I've done something that really matters.
How would you use the $25,000?
I'd use the $25,000 to take some of the financial weight off our family. More than anything, I'd love for my kids to worry a little less and just enjoy being kids. It would help with everyday needs, create some breathing room, and let us spend less time worrying about bills and more time making memories. If there was anything left, I'd quietly use it to help students who need things they simply can't afford, without them ever knowing where it came from.
