Being present for the little moments! They won’t recognize the sacrifices to financially support them, keep a tidy (used loosely) house, stay healthy… but they will remember you stopping your never ending to-do list just to play with them. Knowing that those little treasure moments are shaping their life long relationship with you and how they’ll treat their families, it’s pure gold and worth a little chaos!
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My kids are watching me. I’m their first role model, and how I treat them and react and speak to others is their blueprint. I’m not just raising good kids. I’m raising good parents and setting up the family tree to be successful. Telling my kids who they should be, or how to act means nothing if I can’t demonstrate it myself. It’s the most powerful leadership position one can be in, but yet the power must not be abused. I’m using every ounce of my power to ensure my kids can navigate this life!
How would you use the $25,000?
We lost our business last fall, an endeavor that took all of our life savings and a large loan that we could not pay back. We had to file for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, and in doing so, had to tighten our budget. This caused us to cut out nearly all extracurriculars for our kids. In our household, we expect our kids to be active and creative. It’s not as much fun for them without some of their activities, so this money would be a strong cushion for allowing them to participate again.
