Seeing him grow up to be hard working, smart and independent, but more than that, seeing he's a good human being too. The things he's accomplished already far surpass anything I could have ever done, and to me that's the biggest thing to be proud of.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I didn't have the best relationship with my father, and I always knew that if I had a child, I was going to give him all the things I wished I'd had growing up. Not stuff, but time, support, and a dad who showed up.
How would you use the $25,000?
When my father passed, I inherited the home I was raised in. As a kid I even helped lay the brick. Raising my son on one income, even with his mom co-parenting amazingly, I never had the money for the updates it needed. I've been fixing it up because I plan on gifting it to my son someday. Three generations in a house I helped build, that's worth passing down. I'd also love to take a trip together, he's traveled and I never have. Alaska or a national forest would be perfect.
