The most rewarding part has been watching my daughter grow into a woman I genuinely enjoy being around. I’ve loved being there for the big milestones, but my favorite memories are often the ordinary ones; working on a project together, cooking a meal, running errands, or just talking. Now that she’s an adult, our relationship has evolved into something I treasure most: I’m not just her dad, I’m her friend.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because being a dad is one of the most important things I’ve ever done. I want my daughter to know that she is loved, that she can be completely herself around me, and that I’ll always be in her corner. I can’t fix every problem she face but I have learned that sometimes she doesn’t want me to. I can simply listen, encourage her, make her laugh, and be there when she needs me. To me, that’s what being a dad is really about.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use it to take my daughter to Europe. I’ve spent my life being the practical, hardworking dad who solves problems, fixes things and keeps everything together. Now that she’s grown, I’d love to trade some of that practicality for an adventure we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. You can’t fix or build memories, but you can make them.
