I get to watch my kids grow in real time each moment shifting who they are, then instantly becoming a memory they'll hold forever. My job is to create chances for them to learn with me as their guide. They are my heart, and because I showed up right, I'll always be part of them. Every lesson I give, every question I answer, every hand I hold, it all adds up to something bigger than me, something that outlasts me.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My father was always there for me. That's why, in his last moments, he pulled me close and whispered, 'Be there for your kids. Teach them. Their lives depend on it.' He knew because he showed up for every project, every hard night, every moment I needed him. He was present. He taught me how to survive. Now I carry that forward living with intention, working with purpose, showing up tired but never absent. Though this world is hard, with God's help I am their light, helping build a legacy.
How would you use the $25,000?
I'd build a barn, a place where my kids and their friends actually want to gather. Filled with things that invite curiosity, creativity, and connection. Because influence doesn't happen from a distance, it happens in the messy, ordinary moments around a project or a conversation. I want to be intentional with them, to teach them how to communicate, how to collaborate, how to care for one another. That barn would be more than a building, it would be a memory factory and a legacy of presence.
