Although my children are still little, I am hopeful that as they grow I continue to see them showcase kindness, inclusivity, thoughtfulness, curiosity, and compassion for themselves and others. My wife and I try very hard to instill these values in our kids and seeing them follow through with these commitments makes me immensely proud. Watching both of my girls explore new things and push through setbacks fills me with pride and has pushed me to be a better version of myself.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I have exceptional parents who equipped me with life skills and provided me with the confidence to chase my passions. They have always believed in me, supported me, and guided me through a variety of challenges at each all stages of my life. They sacrificed their time, money, and energy to allow me to follow my dreams. Ultimately, their example has served as a blueprint for how I parent my kids. I want to pour into my kids how my parents poured into me so they can navigate life’s challenges too.
How would you use the $25,000?
$25,000 would help my family immensely with projects around my house which always seems to lengthen. It also could help my wife and I pay down some debt we have. However, if I win this award it seems more fitting to invest that money in my children - they did make me a Dad! Specifically we would invest in a fund we are growing for their education. I would like to use $20,000 for that and then donate the rest of the money to local organizations that support kids (like the Boys & Girls Club).
